Dixon Appointed Editor of Fire Service History Journal

Posted on April 2, 2026April 2, 2026 by Mike

After many years researching, teaching, and writing about the history of the fire service, I’m honored that the National Fire Heritage Center has appointed me as the founding editor of Fire Heritage Review, its new peer‑reviewed journal dedicated to documenting and interpreting the American fire service and fire protection history. The NFHC has published a formal announcement, which I’ve linked below

The NFHC press release highlights the goals of the new journal and the Center’s commitment to expanding scholarship in this field. As editor, I’ll be helping guide the journal’s development, peer‑review process, and outreach to scholars, fire‑service professionals, and community historians. You can read the full announcement here.
